"If you do not believe that hearts can bloom suddenly bigger, and that love can open like a flower out of even the hardest places, then I am afraid that for you the road will be long and brown and barren, and you will have trouble finding the light. But if you do believe, then you already know all about the magic.”

Our story
We stumbled somewhat accidentally into flower farming here at Nowadays.
After years of apartment living, we moved into our house in March 2020 (yep, that March 2020) and soon after found ourselves quarantined through a pandemic, with space to grow things. Getting into nature and spending time in the garden between Zoom calls provided a sense of comfort when the world felt a little wobbly. On one particular trip to the book store (the setting for the start of many good things), a title fell off the shelf at the right time and a lightbulb went off. We were instantly hooked on growing cut flowers and started dreaming up our own farm, where we’d someday grow buckets of blooms and share them with others.
Another year passed, and we couldn’t shake the idea. We began wondering if we could make it work here on our half acre plot, asking ourselves why not now?
Our casual gardening hobby kinda spiraled from there, and nowadays we grow flowers like zinnias, cosmos, dahlias, sweet peas and snap dragons. We’ve found new favorites in strawflowers, amaranth, and pincushions, and we’ve nurtured classics like peonies, roses and tulips. Through it all we continue to find solace in the simple joy of growing flowers, and what started as a way to reconnect with nature and creativity has turned into something even better than we could have imagined, back when it was just a “maybe someday” idea.
Cut with care
We grow flowers in Dover, New Hampshire and Berwick, Maine, on unceded Abenaki, Pennacook and Wabanaki Confederacy land, just miles from the Atlantic coast in Zone 6B. Growing local, seasonal flowers is our jam, and you can find us harvesting May through October. We skip on stuff like toxic pesticides and chemical fertilizers or sprays so you can feel great about blooms you’re bringing into your home, while doing some good for the planet.
We love connecting with our local community. You can find us flowering seasonal, garden-inspired weddings, or collaborating with other local businesses for flower truck pop ups and design workshops. We arrange fresh flowers for custom orders and subscriptions, and sell our stems to local florists. Our secret sauce is taking the time to hear what you’re looking for, thoughtfully selecting the perfect flowers, and infusing extra meaning into every arrangement that goes out the door.
Head to our online shop here to buy flowers, inquire about event florals or weddings, and don’t hesitate to reach out for custom orders, wholesale requests, or just to chat flowers!
Thanks for being here.

“I want to thank you again for the beautiful flowers you created to honor my dad. I just love how you took the time to get to know a bit about him and to know that he too loved his gardens. I was particularly moved by your note explaining how much thought you put into the warm, welcoming and fun tone of the arrangement and to the meaning behind some of the specific flowers you selected. As I told all my friends, my dad is most definitely smiling right now, and I feel loved and so comforted looking at these beautiful flowers.”
“Thank you so much, Bridget! The arrangement looked so awesome, and your note was very special! Thank you for your help today!”
“She LOVED the flowers and your lovely card. This is what separates your business from everyone else’s! Thank you!”
